Brothers:
Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord, Jesus Christ. It is again time for an update of activities at Living Savior here in Montgomery, Texas. Our Risen Lord continues to shower us with His blessings as you will see.
* Our summer attendance increases slightly over our average of 40-50 per Divine Service. During the past four Sundays we were blessed with 52, 38, 62, and last Sunday 75. We also have two families new to Living Savior who have been attending regularly over the past month. Their four children have become involved in our youth activities.
* We completed our first VBS the week of July 11th. Attendance varied from 14 to over 20 per day. Our theme was "Outrigger Island" with one of our parishioner's previous church furnishing most of the material. We are so grateful for all the help received. Some of the activities included water day on Friday with over 800 water filled balloons, learning the song "Amigos de Cristo" for inclusion at the Sunday Divine Service, and food contributions to the Montgomery Food Bank.
* Men from Living Savior have prayed and accepted invitations for the positions of Presiding Elder, an elder, and a Vice-President. In addition to these positions, we also have a President, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Secretary.
* We have completed the draft Constitution and By-Laws and have sent them to President Hennings for review by the District Constitution and Bylaws committee. We pray that approval will be forthcoming and have set a tentative date for Charter Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 if timely approval is received.
* A BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) group has been formed with seven couples committing to begin this Bible study. Our initial meeting will be the first Friday of September. Additional meetings will always be the first Friday of the month.
* As you may know, Pastor Franzmeier's quadruple by-pass surgery delayed Pastor Bailes' scheduled time off. Pastor Bailes will now be gone in August. We are in need of Pastoral assistance for Sunday Divine Services the Sundays of August 17th, 25th, and the 31st. We know that He will provide.
* To celebrate the 4th of July, our Divine Services of June 29th included placing American flags outside the church and, of course, inside. Patriotic songs were sung with gusto and the congregation prepared a gift box for an Army unit in Irag. One of our members has a son-in-law serving in Irag.
* Living Savior included a fellowship event by attending a Woodlands Concert Band performance for the fourth of July weekend. One of our members performs with the band. We meet several members of Living Word at the concert and joined them for ice cream afterwards. What a wonderful evening!
* Our lessor is very happy that we are at the "Old Baptist Church" and we are so blessed to have such a wonderful facility. So many folks have indicated their comfort at Divine Services with comments such as "this is just like the little church" we went to as a kid.
* Pastor Bailes preaching is based solidly on Scripture and his message from the Lord each Sunday fills the congregation with both Law and Gospel. He is always ready to serve as the Lord directs. What a blessing he has been!
Because of Christ's blessings, Living Savior has come a long way over the past eight months. Because of your continued prayers and support, we are eager to continue "yoking up" and be part of the vine. His love is truly awesome. Living Savior looks eagerly forward to the time when we will support other efforts in His name.
Shalom - Dick Wiese
